More Downsizing
I can't emphasize enough the importance of downsizing in stages. Here's round two:
We are down to about 28 bins.
2 of them are our books
4 of them our children's books ages pre-k to 5th grade.
5 of them are clothes and winter gear
About 6 of them are my home school curriculum since we will be home schooling
3 are kitchen
1 is interior decorations
2 are blankets and sheets
1 is full of electronic gear/commuter gear
1 with camping gear
1 with first aid and hygiene items
2 with office supplies and arts and crafts
It is important to not get rid of everything if you don't have to. We will not downsize again until we move in. I will only be keeping curriculum in the tiny house that fits his age. The rest we will be keeping at family members houses. We are so thankful we have family that can help. We may have to downsize clothes again and maybe books. Things like camping gear, out of season clothing and extra blankets and sheets may be kept with family as well. I think as we tradition to the tiny house living we will start to weed more out but we feel pretty good that all our belongings fit in a store room in a basement for now.
Helping with Construction
We are here today working hard on the tiny house! We were taping up the exterior wall and are starting on the LP Smartside siding. We chose to go with this because it is more resistant to bugs, woodpeckers and the weather. The tiny house is a lifelong home for us so the less repairs needed the better. We are also working on the exterior trim. Jim will be working on our amazing stairs. They will look something like this:
